Hello to all my darling prairie dogs!

Voting is tomorrow! Please, please don’t forget! This is your chance to be like me – a star! Because unlike a beauty pageant that I won years ago, this contest is not judged by a few members of the chamber of commerce. This is judged by you and me and everybody! Even the stupid people! So get out there and be heard!

I’ll be voting in Richfield, even though it has been a busy autumn for this beauty queen! At the end of September, I just got in the door from spending the summer in Ptown when I was instructed to motor off to Philly for a 3-show run. I adore Philly and will be back soon when I can stay longer!

I did not have nearly enough time to see the attractions, because I had to head west for shows in San Diego, Los Angeles and Mexico – which is pretty much the same place with different names! Fortunately, I adore the Third World!

And soon I’ll be heading west again to San Francisco where the folks at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church welcome me for one-night only on Saturday, Nov. 6. For tickets and info, check out: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/132887

My trip to San Diego was funded privately for me to perform a short, yet meaningful program for my friend Maynard’s birthday. It was one of these fabulous California houses that in Richfield we’d call a “hotel.”

Much like you’d expect from these resourceful “fellows” with money, they fashioned an attractive AND functional performance space out nothing but particle board, scotch tape, and two athletic supporters!!

It all went down when I was 8 minutes into my blow-out, knock-em dead performance, where I sing all 5 toe-tapping songs in my musical repertoire!!! I was in the middle of the Jell-O song, which makes me tap my platformed toe, when we heard a bit of a rumbling and suddenly I was 2 1/2 feet shorter. Still singing, I completed the number, wiped myself off, and climbed out of the hole to take my well-deserved bow!

Now folks, there’s a professional!

I had a lovely stay in San Diego and went on to LA and the Mexican Riviera with Atlantis Events! And now I’m off to San Francisco and Las Vegas and Mexico – again!

On The Road Again – Philly & LA!

Sept. 21, 2010

Hello to all my darling prairie dogs!

It’s official – I’m off Old Cape Cod and on that dirty dog! It feels good to be back on the Greyhound, sitting in front so I can visit with the driver. And this trip is very special, as I go bi-coastal, taking “Asians & Homos & Jews, Oh My!” to Philly and eventually that land of fruit and nuts, Los Angeles!

I’ll be in Philly on Thurs-Sat, Oct. 7-9. For Philly tickets:http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/126407

And I’ll be in LA on Tues-Thurs, Oct. 12-14. For LA tickets:http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/128646

But I have to keep this note short, as I’m at a KFC on I-80 outside of Streetsboro, OH. We’re only parked for 10 minutes, while the driver unplugs the bus toilet.

Goodness, I wish we could get our senior friends to dispose of their adult diapers in the convenient plastic-lined trashcan at the front of the bus, instead of trying to flush them down the lavatory in the back! Those toilets are sensitive. I once plugged one by flushing a used tea bag, some out-of-date Pamprin and a recipe card. I find that a private bathroom moment is a good time to clean out my handbag.

The driver is a very nice gal named Frank, which I’m guessing is short for Francine or maybe Frankfort. She seems very bothered with this bathroom problem, muttering something about “not being a blankity, blank plumber.” I find that interesting because I think she looks like a plumber. I think I’ll tell her that when we get back on board.

I have to run and order my 3-piece, extra-crispy with a biscuit and corn. I’m also going to grab an extra wet wipe for Frank.

Hello to all my darling prairie dogs!

I can scarcely believe this is me! Look at the focus, the control, the smooth underarms! That’s me pitching on the field in a kickball game to raise money for Helping Our Women, also known as HOW!

At first I was tickled to think I was making money for the Indians, until this rather irritated gal in practical shoes informed me that this was not an Indian charity at all.

So no free cheese! I was furious! But I stayed to be polite and found out that this is an amazing organization that does wonderful work helping our gals who are under the weather with cancer and other unsightly conditions.

And although the organization is amazing, my team was NOT! Good heavens it’s kickball. You’d have thought we were splitting the atom! 1) large red ball. 2) kick. 3) run. Next time I’m bringing 3X5 cards for notes.

So we helped some gal with cancer get a ride to the doctor. But WE lost! We’re the victims! What about us?!?

Have a great week!

Head Over Heels Again!

Head Over Heels Again!

March 19, 2010

Hello to all my darling prairie dogs!

I’m head over heels again for another few weeks while I tour the Orient! I’m off with Atlantis Events on the lovely Azmara Quest! We start out in Shanghai and about 3 weeks later, we’re somewhere else.

Although I do my best to understand and not complain, I do wonder how people live their whole lives upside down!

The last time I did this tour, it was an odd feeling. No matter where I got off the boat – Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, or Singapore – it was like the same 12 people were standing on the pier and following me through town.

This was a freaky feeling to be sure, and a bit disappointing because I wanted to meet more than 12 new Oriental friends. But they certainly were a friendly bunch.

The back rub people were the most friendly. I went to get rubbed with Shann Carr, Lindsey Ally and my DC friend Ralph – yes, his name is Ralph!

The first thing they did was to put us into tiny robes in tiny rooms, followed by a tiny gal who mumbled something to me in Mexican and then proceeded to jump me! It was like rice on white!

Before I knew it, she was walking on my back – or it could have been a slow jog, who knows?!? As I craned my neck back to see what the heck was going on, and to see if this was something I was going to need to talk to my pastor about when I returned home – that’s when I saw a foot on my shoulder.

Yes, a human foot! I can’t tell you how comforting it was to realize it was mine! Whew, that could have gotten weird fast!

It was inexpensive, which was good because I had to buy one more plate of chow mein before I left later that day!

Hope you all enjoy spring! I’ll be coming back to the United States cleaned and pressed!

Everything’s Cheaper in Mexico, Even Me!!

Everything’s Cheaper in Mexico, Even Me!!

Oct. 26, 2009

Hello to all my darling prairie dogs!

I just got back from Mexico and boy are my maracas tired!

I would be even more tired if I didn’t have some excellent help on this last Atlantis cruise on the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas.

You see a week ago, me and 3,200 homos hit the high seas out of LA heading south to Mexico and right into the path of that nasty Hurricane Rick. Well that’s the kind of man I do not need chasing me! I feared for my life! What would I do?

Fortunately I calmed my nerves with a cup of Sanka and had myself cloned.

I thought it best, hoping that one of the 11 of us would make it through the storm to continue my ministry of Richfield! As it turned out, we all made it through the storm fine, so now I don’t know what to do with all these gals.

They truly are the nicest group you could ever meet! But I just can’t get a word in edgewise with all these darling, but very chatty Richfields around me.

So I think I may send them on tour. I hear Afghanistan is be nice this time of year.
